European occupational regulations and procedures on health and safety

A safe working environment for employees can support organisation's decisions. New European regulations and procedures for health and safety can improve occupational performance and create change for organisations. This purpose of this article is to present European Acts related to Health and Safety, as well as show how European laws are implemented in practice. The Lisbon Treaty offers new legislative powers to the European Parliament which put in an equal level the Council of Ministers to make decisions which can affect the operations of an organisation. This article is concentrating in organisations of the higher education sector in the Republic of Cyprus.
