Abstract
The Human Resource Management is taking an altogether new direction from its basic traditional role of handling personnel issues in an organization to that of strategic management contribution role in an organization. As most of the traditional functions of the human resource management were being taken over by the automation and other advanced technology interventions, there was a great disruption in the functioning of the human resources and as a result, the size of the human resource departments started getting shrunk. The changing work distribution and assignments and the increasing complexity in the management functions, the human resources management is now on a new trajectory to redefine and reassert its role in the higher echelons of the management and it has now become an investable part of the strategic management role and is actively engaged in the decision making at the highest level. This paper analyses the evolving of the new role for human resource management and it attempts to project the future trajectory of the human resources management profession as the profession was witnessing a paradigm shift in its role and functions in organizational management set up.
