Abstract
This paper is an attempt to study the security system with reference to Radio identification (RFID) technology in university libraries in Hyderabad. It reveals how many libraries are equipped with RFID technology and perception of Librarians on RFID technology. A survey was conducted in all 13 university libraries in Hyderabad. To achieve the objectives of the study, a structured closed ended questionnaire was designed and collected the data from all 13 university libraries. Based on the data analysis and interpretation, it is found that the majority of the university libraries have not equipped with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. They consider the RFID as efficient and it is working effectively. The RFID technology has advantages as it has large memory space, followed by Rewritable and long service life. It is also revealed that majority 9 out of 13 librarians consider that this RFID security system is very important to control unethical practice and it increases the efficiency of library transaction
