Research: leading motives for getting married

The article examines the dynamics of statistic data on the number of marriages and divorces in the Republic of Belarus within 2016-2019, provides the latest indicators on this problem in our country and analyzes the results of our own sociological survey on the leading reasons for marriage, conducted in order to find the reasons for the sad statistics. The work examines in detail the motives for entering into a marriage union, named by the respondents. The results of the survey conducted by the author are visualized in the diagram, where the named motives are ranked according to the frequency of the respondents' answers. On the basis of the research carried out, the reason for the trend of the growing number of divorced marriages was identified and it was concluded that the change of statistics on marriages and divorces in a positive direction should be started with a change of moral values that have priority in our society.
