Abstract
Chlorophyll fluorescence is a recent technology characteristically used to monitor the photosynthetic performance of plants non-invasively. This article reviews a detailed relationship between chlorophyll fluorescence and leaf photosynthetic performance and their changes in abiotic conditions in the context of applications of fluorescence measurements to screening programmes which seek to identify improved plant performance owing to its sensitivity and throughput nature of this technology.
