Abstract
The effectiveness of dental sealants mainly depends on their retention, or that is what most authors claim. There is a great number of clinicians who believe that partial loss of a sealant leads to the same risk of caries development, identical to that of not silanized occlusal surfaces. The aim of this clinical trial is to evaluate the retention and caries-preventive effect of glass ionomer sealant on newly erupted first permanent molars.
