Abstract
The government of India has demonetized the Rs.500 and Rs.1000 banknotes on November 8, 2016 with the purpose of reducing black money and counterfeit currency and terror funding and to go for a formal economy. In this sense, the paper aims to see the reasons, issues, challenges, implementation and impacts of demonetization on Indian economy.
