Abstract
Antioxidants are vital substances which possess the ability to protect the body from damages caused by free radical induced oxidative stress. A variety of free radical scavenging antioxidants are found in plants. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the antioxidant activity of methanol, Ethyl Acetate, Chloroform and Acetone extracts of the mangrove plants. Our research indicates that Indias mangrove plants have the potential in scavenging free radicals and can be a vital source of antioxidant phytochemicals. Our results showed that plant extracts showed significant levels of antioxidants and also exhibited antioxidant capacity.
