Abstract
Objective: Assessing the severity of primary caretaker burden of alcohol dependence patients and the pattern of primary caretaker burden of patients with alcohol dependence patients. Correlating the severity of dependence and the burden on primary caretaker. Methods: The proportion and descriptive analysis for alcohol dependence syndrome and alcohol dependence symptoms of patients. Mean and standard deviation were computed for all continuous variables for the FBIS domain scores, total objective and total subjective score. The data was analysed using statistical package for social sciences version 23. Results: This study found that there is moderate burden for primary caretakers.
