Abstract
Macrodystropia Lipomatosa is a rare type of non hereditary congenital localized or generalized gigantism of limb or digits. It may manifest from infancy to late adulthood. There is progressive enlargement due to hypertrophy of mesenchymal elements giving rise to disproportionate increase in amount of fibrofatty tissue. These patients come to hospital usually because of cosmetic reasons or symptoms due to secondary degenerative arthropathies or neurovascular compression caused by large osteophytes. Here we present a case of 18 years male affected by this rare congenital anomaly involving left second toe.
