Abstract
The South Gujarat is majorly having black cotton soil. This soil is considered as problematic soil as it is having a very high swelling potential and low bearing capacity. Structures/Pavements constructed directly on untreated soil face problems of settlements, development of cracks in pavements etc. Even now a days bacterial culture is also successfully used to enhance the properties of such soil. In this project work there is an attempt to stabilize the soil using paper mill sludge ash which is a waste material and available in very large quantity.
