Abstract
In the present study, food samples have been collected from local markets in different States in Sudan. The average elemental concentrations for Al, Br, Ca, Cl, K, Mg, Mn, Na, Ti, V, Co, Cr, Feand Zn have been determined using Instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis (INAA). The accuracy of measurements has been investigated by using IAEA-V-10, 114IPE3 and NIST SRM 1573a peach leaves. Good agreement was found between certified and determined values. The elemental concentrations showed little difference amongst the different food samples and the values obtained indicate that these items can contribute to the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for these elements. Correlations between different elements were performed. Hierarchical cluster analysis was done for the data. The average elemental concentrations were calculated and compared with data from literature.
