Abstract

In the modern society, challenges of our life symbolize the battle field of Kurushetra which we come across in the Bhagavad Gita. We all have lots of desires, dreams, duties and ambitions, obligations to self, family, and society. Each of us has our own society, family and culture through which our self, personality and behavior are conditioned. Our life is the perfect example of a battle between good and evil. Many a time we come across a situation where we are afraid to do the right thing because of social pressure and conformity. We face conflict with a choice regarding what we want to do over what we should do. Here emerges the Bhagavad Gita as a narrative that tells us about the importance of doing the right thing, of conquering our own darkness, regardless of the cost or struggle. The paper explores various psychological concepts such as personality, impulses, motivation, adjustment in the Bhagavad Gita in order to seek help in the situations where the problems we face seems beyond to our capacity to solve. In the Gita, the discussion of these psychological concepts on a broad level is more than sufficient to guide human conduct in the face of problems when we get confused and unable to make decisions like Arjuna.
