Abstract
This study developed an instrument called Attitudes towards Educational Research Scale (ATERS), explored its multidimensional factor structure and examined its psychometric properties. The participants of the pilot testing of the ATERS were 86 undergraduate students taking up Bachelor in Elementary Education (BEED). Cronbachs alpha was used to determine the coefficient of reliability and Principal Components Analysis (PCA) with varimax rotation was used to determine the construct validity of the instrument. The instrument was a 6- point Likert-type attitudinal scale, initially made up of 44 items and reduced to a 22-item attitudinal scale in its final form. The final form has 6 subscales or components which were determined using principal components analysis with varimax rotation. The scale showed indications of factorability as evidenced by the KMO measure of sampling adequacy of 0.737 and p
