Abstract
Systemic lupus erythematosus is a multi system disorder, the expression of which is greatly influenced by environmental, demographic and geographical factors. Haematological abnormalities are common in SLE. This study was conducted to estimate the proportion of patients with haematological abnormalities as initial manifestation of SLE. Methods- The study was conducted on 20 patients with SLE at Silchar medical college and hospital from August 2016 to November 2017. Results - Haematological abnormalities were present in 16 patients. Anemia was the most common haematological abnormality detected. Patients also had alteration in leucocyte and platelets counts Conclusion- Haematological manifestations are one of the most common presentation of SLE in people of Barack Valley, Assam. Also evaluation of SLE need to be done in patients of anemia not responding to conventional treatment.
