Abstract
Politeness plays a significant status in human interaction, and a number of politeness strategies are commonly used in daily speech acts including inviting and declining invitations. The article presents the positive strategies which are employed in inviting and declining invitations by Vietnamese people. The framework is based on Brown, P. and Levinson, S [2] and Quang, N. [11].
