Abstract
It can be concluded that Cys-C is a better option for a biomarker for screening early renal impairments in patients with diabetes, while Microalbuminuria and Albumin/creatinine ratio are also powerful diagnostic tools. The implication for clinical practice is that Cys-C may be employed as an alternative to current investigations to measure GFR, however research on a larger scale is still warranted.
