Abstract

An organic material N-methyl-4-nitroaniline (NMNA) has been grown by the slow evaporation technique at ambient temperature. The grown NMNA crystal crystallized using three different solvents such as tetrahydrofuran (THF), dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) and acetone, respectively. The grown crystal system and crystallinity were determined by single crystal and powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. Further, the grown crystals were characterized by FTIR, proton NMR, UV-Visible, micro hardness, dielectric and etching have been studied and compared. The TGA/ DTA studies indicate that the thermal behavior of the grown crystal which thermally stable up to 403 K. The relative second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency was compared with KDP by Kurtz-Perry powder technique using NdYAG laser.
