Abstract
Stakeholder participation currently is a key process enshrined in most constitutional mandates across the globe and a major pillar for democratic governance. Scholars consider stakeholder participation to be a twofold aspect of effective governance which firstly includes the quantity of stakeholder actors and secondly the extent to which stakeholders take advantage of opportunities to participate in governance processes (Rabinowitz, 2016). Stakeholder participation is viewed as a check and balance mechanism for accountability, transparency and integrity assurances. Notwithstanding, political scientists, governance scholars continue to raise questions in regard to whether global governance has democratic legitimacy. Cross sections of researchers have alluded to the fact that this question can partially be addressed though effective stakeholder participation. This paper seeks to investigate the effects of stakeholders participation on governance outcomes in Nairobi County, Kenya. (Munnik& Wilson, 2003).
