Abstract
For most of the 20th century, psychology emphasized negative aspects of human experience - disorders - and their treatment. However, the last two decades have seen the development of theoretical models of the positive aspects of life such as happiness, hope and gratitude which have greatly influenced the field of positive psychology and the study of well-being. The objective of this study is to assess the role of happiness, hope and gratitude on health and wellbeing among the young adults. The sample consisted of 150 participants and the tools used were Oxford Happiness Measure, The Gratitude Questionnaire (GQ-6), The Adult Hope Scale (AHS), General Health Questionnaire (GHQ) and The Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-being Scale (WEMWBS). It is important for the mental health professionals to empower the strengths that enable individuals and communities to thrive.
