Abstract
Levofloxacin has been tested as corrosion inhibitor for API 5L X-52 steel in 2 M HCl solution using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and gravimetric techniques. The results obtained show an increase in inhibition efficiency and decrease in corrosion rate with increasing concentration of levofloxacin. The kinetic studies of the data followed a first order reaction. The adsorption of the inhibitor was found to be spontaneous and consistent with the assumption of Langmuir adsorption isotherm.
