Abstract
An assessment of the natural radioactivity in Soil Samples from Al-Salaam neighborhood where the choice of 10 sampling site of the region, and collect two samples from each site of the first depth (0-10 cm) and depth of the second (10-30) cm to reach (20) sample and The gamma rays spectral measurements were done for all samples by using Iodide Sodium activated by Thallium NaI (Tl), its dimension 3 3. The mean values activity concentrations of 238U, 232Th and 40K was ( 5.530.36, 6.110.36 and 107.331.69) Bq/ kg respectively, specific activity for all soil sample were in the worldwide average. The average values of the Radium equivalent activity and absorbed dose rate were (22.551.08 Bq/kg and 11.060.47 nGy/h) within the world average. The heist external and internal hazard and the outdoor and indoor annual effective dose and gamma activity concentration index were (0.07580.0038, 0.06080.0028, 0.01330.0005mSv/yr, 0.05400.0023mSv/yr and 0.16960.0075) respectively, lower than unity.
