Abstract
The benefit of callogenesis and subsequent shoot regeneration using different lengths (3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm, 6 mm, and greater than6 mm) of flower buds of tomato were investigated in another culture. Calli were induced on MS media Supplemented with different combinations of growth regulators (2 ppm indole3acetic acid (IAA) plus 1 ppm N6 (2isopentenyl) adenine (2ip), 2 ppm IAA plus 3 ppm 6benzylaminopurine (BA), and 2ppm IAA plus 0.25 ppm zeatin riboside). The developed calli were transferred to the MS medium containing 2 ppm IAA plus 1 ppm2ip for organogenesis and developed shoot buds were transferred to the same medium containing 2 ppm IAA plus 0.25 ppm zeatin riboside for shoot regeneration. The flower bud length ranging from 3 mm to greater than6 mm produced calli. Flower buds of 4 mm produced the highest number of calli and shoots (63 % and 29 % respectively) followed by that of 5 mm (57 % and 14 % respectively). Number of calli produced in the MS medium containing 2 ppm IAA plus 1 ppm 2ip were highest (71 %) followed by2 ppm IAA plus 3 ppm BA (65 %). This finding would be an efficient technique for callogenesis and shoo, 942, 416 Tm in 2007) and cultivated area (4, 643, 957 Ha in2007) (Seguto regeneration in tomato anther culture
