Integrated Talent Management Model in Schools: Teacher Perspectives

Abstract
The aim of this study is to explore the teachers’ perspectives on how school administrators display characteristic of integrated talent management model (ITMM). The population of the study consists of teachers who work in schools that are located in the districts of Ankara, namely Altındağ, Çankaya, Etimesgut, Keçiören, Mamak, Sincan and Yenimahalle. The sample of the study comprises 55 teachers who work in high schools which include 2 anatolian high schools, 1 general high school, 1 science high school, 1 technical and vocational high school, 1 imam hatip high school within the academic year 2012-2013. Data are collected using semi-structured interviews and focus group interviews. After the completion of the content analysis, the amount of agreement or correspondence amongst the coders has been checked. According to the findings of the study, teachers consider talent management approach a more appropriate model for private schools. Also, teachers perceive talent management as a competency or skill that pertains to human resource management. Teachers indicate that school administrators do not possess the required competencies for the ITMM approach.
