Abstract
The aim of the present study is to find out the seasonal diversity of Phytoplanktons in the year October 2010 to september 2011. The studies are carried out in 5 different sampling stations in Jabalpur (M. P) India and months are categorized as October-January as winter, February-May as summer, June-September as rainy. A total of 19 genera belonging to four different groups (Bacillariophyceea, Chlorophyceae, Cyanophyceae and Euglenophyceae) were recorded during the study period. The Planktons were collected, counted and identified by using the methods suggested by APHA and Prescott [1]. From the recorded data, quantitatively and qualitatively, Chlorophyceae is the most dominant group followed by Bacillariophyceae as the second dominant group and Cyanophyceae and Euglenophyceae as third and fourth respectively.
