Abstract
Increasing popularity of the World Wide Web over the past few years has imposed a significant traffic burden upon the internet. The continued increase in demand for objects on the internet causes severe overloading in many sites and network links. Web traffic reduction techniques are mandatory for accessing the websites efficiently. Data caching and prefetching techniques play a key role in improving the web performance in mobile information systems. Generally the mobile devices have less amount of memory storage than computers. Therefore the key challenge in prefetching is to determine what to prefetch so that the improvement in performance will be enhanced. In a mobile environment the mobility brings the new challenges to the prefetch problem.
