Abstract
IT industry in the past few decades has been defined by a passion for faster, smaller, and powerful software applications. The current emphasis is on raw processing power from smaller components with greater capacity to store, process and move data. This paper is a critical analysis of the autonomic computing paradigm that aims to eliminate the need of human intervention on executable computer systems. The paper reviews the IBM autonomic computing initiative, analyzing its applications and examines the challenges and issues autonomic computing faces while achieving its objective.
