Abstract
When coal is converted to coke, the volatile matter entrapped in coal escapes. This volatile matter is called coke oven gas, which is collected and cleaned to be used as fuel. One of the impurities of the Coke Oven gas is Sulfur which is extracted using Claus process. The Sulfur thus obtained is 99.5 % pure, which can be used commercially.
