Abstract
A fundamental prerequisite for the clinical success in dental implant surgery is the fast and stable implant osseointegration. The mechanical properties of the trabecular and cortical bone found within the oral environment exhibit a high degree of variation as a function of load direction, rate and duration. A thorough analysis of the biomechanics of dental implantology requires a detailed knowledge of bone mechanical properties as well as an accurate definition of the jaw bone geometry. The purpose of this article is to provide a review of the biomechanical response, influence of stresses due to mechanical loads on dental implant and corrosion of biomaterials in dental implantology
