Abstract
The incorporation of renewable energy is limited in many ways by the variable and intermittent nature of its output. Hence, energy storage systems have to be used to buffer the source variations. A bidirectional dc-dc converter is generally needed to actively control the power flow between energy storage and the dc bus in residential microgrid applications. In this paper a new dc-dc converter topology has been proposed for residential microgrid. The proposed dc-dc converter has low number of switches compared to the converters usually applied to similar applications, high power operation, high usage of super capacitor stored energy, long battery life time, low input and output current ripple, high voltage ratio. This converterperformances in microgrid are also approached in this paper. The simulations are carried out in Matlab/Simulink environment using simpowersystems tool box.
