Abstract
A morphological analyzer is the automated implementation of human ability to analyze a language which always returns a morpheme with the suffix associated with it. Since Malayalam is an agglutinative language with large number of inflections, an efficient morphological analyzer is required which uses the best possible method. There are different approaches for analyzing a language morphologically. This paper describes such methods like paradigm approach, suffix stripping, finite state automata, corpus based method etc and their limitations and advantage over one another.
