Abstract
The District of Lakhimpur is one of the prominent high flood-prone districts of Assam. The aims of this study are to find out how the floods are leading to environmental degradation and thereby its effects. The study revealed that soil erosion, deforestation, degradation of soil quality, loss of thousands of plants, domesticated as well as wild lives even human being, water pollution etc. are caused by the floods which hamper the riverline people to a great extend.
