Abstract

Class III malocclusion is one of the most difficult malocclusion to understand and to treat. The studies conducted to identify etiological features of class III malocclusion showed that the deformity is not restricted to jaws but involves total craniofacial complex. Class III malocclusions have strong hereditary components. Functional influences play secondary or adaptive roles. Differential diagnosis is important for proper treatment of class III malocclusion. This article reviews etiology, diagnosis and treatment plan for class III malocclusion.
