Abstract
Whenever fault occurs in a system the current becomes asymmetrical and has two components AC and DC. Here in this concept of DC component and its effects on the circuit breaker are discussed. The focus of this paper is to analyze the criticality of the operation of breaker at the various % of the D. C. component with respect to its operation time and decay time constant.
