Carcinoma of Stomach ? A Study of 381 Cases

Abstract
Back ground Gastrointestinal tract is an important site for cancer in men and women throughout the world (1). The stomach remains the second most common form of cancer in the world accounting for around 10 % of all cancers (2). Gastric cancer is the fourth most commonly diagnosed cancer and the second most common cause of cancer-related death worldwide (3, 4, 5, 6, 7). Studies from various parts of India indicate that malignancy of stomach more common in south India. This is possibly due to the fact that the common predisposing factors for gastric malignancies like diet, socioeconomic status, smoking, H. Pylori infection, obesity, alcohol abuse, and genetic factors (5). Objective is to study the occurrence and Clinical pathological correlation of malignant tumours of stomach. The methodology is retrospective four and prospective four years study of gastric malignancies from 2007-2015. Results 23717 surgical specimens from 2007 to 2015 subjected to retrospective and prospective study shows 381 gastric malignancies. Conclusion Out of 381 malignancies of stomach Adenocarcinoma (intestinal type) is predominant variety in men and women with male preponderance in poor rural patients with alcohol and smoking as risk factors.
