Abstract
THE ROLE OF UTERINE ARTERY DOPPLER SONOGRAPHY IN PREDICTING PRE ECLAMPSIA AT 14-20 WEEKS OF GESTATION Dr. (Brig) K. Sahoo, Dr. Pramod Shaha, Dr. Shweta Bhairagond Dr. Vinay Raj R. (KRISHNA INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES UNIVERSITY) OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to determine the role of uterine artery Doppler flow velocimetry at second trimester of pregnancy in prediction of preeclampsia. METHODS This prospective study is carried out in the department of Radiodiagnosis, Krishna institute of Medical science, Karad. The study includes 220 pregnant women (primigravida) from August 2013 to September 2014 whose Uterine artery resistive index and pulsatility index was calculated between 14 to 20 weeks of pregnancy. The main uterine artery was located at the uterocervical junction close to the cross- over point of the uterine and external iliac arteries on both sides. RIgreater than0.7 & PIgreater than1.4 was considered abnormal. CONCLUSION Doppler velocimetry of uterine artery at second trimester of pregnancy can be used as a reliable screening test for prediction of preeclampsia and helps to identify women at high risk and helps to modify follow up and management.
