Abstract
This paper aims to tackle a sensitive issue related to the corrosion of steels and the measures to avoid it by applying polyethylene strips on the pipelines used in the natural gas sector in order to increase their durability. The paper focuses on the finite element analysis of the accidental breakage of the polyethylene insulation on the steel pipelines.
