Abstract

English is extensive and complex in India. In current and recent decades, research both ineducation and in higher education reflects the realities and the ideality of the new millennium. The study examines language policy and the role and place of English in education, university multi-lingualism, language resume design, English language teaching material, English teaching methods and processes and how English is spoken in the diversified Indian contexts. The research is also studied on the different literacy development and language skills, university- level English and English for specific purposes, including English for engineering, ICT use in English language education, the professional development of language teachers and young student teachers. Research also highlights the constraints of the English language training environment for school children and university teachers and materials that lead to various disparities in English language teaching in the classroom. In short, the results of research are conducive to action for a harmonious and cognitive language policy. Research findings recommend a policy that calls for engaging curriculums and materials that promote the learner- contacts learners with the English language in the classroom. The continued professional development of teachers and learning friendly assessment is to be achieved through instrumental support.
