Abstract
Autism is a disorder of neural development characterized by impaired social interaction and communication, and by restricted and repetitive behavior. Statement of the Problem: A study to determine the Effect of self instructional module on knowledge of parents caring of child with autism in Santhi Nilayam at Kanyakumari district. Objectives of the Study: To assess the knowledge of parents caring of children with autism. To assess the effectiveness of self instructional module on care, autism among parents of autistic children. To determine the association between autism and demographic variables [Age, education, sex, standard of living]. Assumptions: There will be less knowledge regarding the care of autism among parents of autistic children. Autistic children may not have adequate skill to do their daily activities. Limitation: The study is limited to, Parents of autistic children. Limited period of one month. Projected Outcome: The study findings will help the researcher to determine the parent?s knowledge regarding the care of autism. The study will help to promote knowledge regarding the care of autistic children. The study findings will help the nurse researchers to carry out the same study in a different setting to promote best care of the autistic children.
