Abstract
Malaria is one of the most severe public health problems in Nigeria and in the whole world. Nigeria has the greatest number of malaria cases. Malaria is a mosquito borne infectious disease which is caused by protists of genus Plasmodium. Cross-sectional study of Plasmodium falciparium infection among pregnant women attending antenatal clinics at Ketu Adie-owe primary health care, Ado-odo/otta, Ogun state were considered in which three hundred and nine women were selected at random(309) using simple random sampling on their case note. This study was carried out to know if there is a relationship between infection of malaria and gravid status as well as gestation period of pregnant women and also to determine if the infection of malaria by pregnant women depends on their age. From the result, Malaria were found to be higher within the age group 20-24 and 25-29, also 25-29, 30-34 and 35-39 for primigravida and multigravida respectively. Also, the chi square result on malaria status against gravida and malaria status against gestational period shows that age has no effect on malaria status, gravida has no much effect on malaria status and gestation period is statistically significant during pregnancy. The most common symptoms are pains, headache, cold, and fever. The most common symptoms are pains, headache, cold, and fever.
