Abstract
Provisioning, allocating, and pricing the VM instances are challenging issues that have to be addressed by the cloud providers. The fixed-price allocation mechanisms used by commercial cloud providers cannot allocate the Virtual machine instances efficiently or price the resourcesreflecting the dynamically changing user requirements. In particular, combinatorial auction-based mechanisms are best suited for resource allocation in clouds because of the nature of the allocation requests. However, we have to overcome resource utilization and the revenue challenge by combining combinatorial auction with grouping auction
