Abstract
Over the last three decades, the growing demand for safety, reliability, maintainability and survivability in technical systems has drawn significant research in Fault Detection and Diagnosis (FDD). Such efforts have led to the development of many FDD techniques. Several review/survey papers on Fault Detection and Diagnosis have appeared since the 1990s.The present work is to detect the fault of the control surface of a Re-Entry Vehicle during its descent phase. Fault Detection study is carried out for the Longitudinal Plane. Model Based Method is implemented to detect the Fault in the Re-Entry Vehicle and the Detection Time is calculated based on the Probability Threshold. It is planned to develop the model based fault detection algorithm, applied to the longitudinal plane of the reentry vehicle.
