Abstract
Phyllosphere is the leaf surface of plants used as habitat for microorganisms. B. thuringiensis SNKr10 is a gram positive, rod shaped spinach phyllospheric bacteria (accession no. KU569966). This bacterium behaves as PGP bacteria by showing various PGP properties like IAA, siderophore, NH3, HCN production etc. It also showed inhibition effect against plant pathogenic fungi (F. oxysporum, A. alternata, R. solani etc.). We also observed its positive effect on the growth parameters of S. oleracea using pot house experiment. Due to these properties of SNKr10, we can say that this bacterial is a potent bio-control agent and can be used as bio-fertilizer in sustainable agriculture.
