Abstract
Even hypoalbuminemia can be seen in children with pleural effusion, generally this situation is not being considered. The mechanism and pathogenesis of hypoalbuminemia in parapneumonic pleural effusion is unclear. We report two cases aged 8 and 9 years with severe hypoalbuminemia and different amounts of parapneumonic pleural effusions. Both of the patients had dramatic improvement in clinical symptoms after the albumin therapy. Conclusion: We want to emphasize the importance of albumin in patients with parapneumonic pleural effusions and albumin may be a good parameter for follow-up and therapy in these patients.
