Abstract
A severe pneumonia began to affect an increasing number of people in China in December, 2019. The isolated agent indicated that it was a Coronavirus, similar to the virus that had previously caused the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome - SARS-Cov, making it called SARS -Cov-2. The lack of knowledge about its etiology and reports about the isolation of the agent in dogs and cats, raised questions about its importance in the course of the disease. The purpose of this article is to bring more information about the possibility of transmitting the disease from humans to dogs and cats, the ways of contagion and the probability of the virus spreading from these animals. Based on reported cases and bringing information about studies and experiments already carried out, which showed the inability of the virus to multiply and become contagious, even in cases where the infection of domiciled dogs and cats occurred.
