A Study to Analyze the Impact of Depression among College going Students of Gandhinagar District due to COVID 19 Pandemic

Abstract
Introduction: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) may be a contagion caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The first case was identified in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. The disease has since spread worldwide, resulting in an ongoing pandemic. Symptoms begin one to 14 days after exposure to the virus. Symptoms include headache, loss of smell and taste, nasal congestion and rhinorrhea, cough, muscle pain, sore throat, fever, diarrhea, and breathing difficulties. Due to COVID 19 students tend to struggle with academics and with social distancing. In this age students can devour on stress and should become fearful for his or her own health. Students may not capable of expressing their own emotions. The predicted wave of depression appears to possess arrived within the wake of the COVID pandemic. Rate of depression among college students has increased since the start of the pandemic. Depression is recognized by Beck Depression Inventory Scale may be a 21-question multiple-choice self- report inventory, one among the foremost widely used psychometric tests for measuring the severity of depression. Methods: The investigator recruited 100 college going students of Gandhinagar district using random sampling method according to the inclusive criteria and students were participated voluntarily. Statistical analysis was performed using Pie chart. Result: From the study we found that, out of 100 college going students 36 were found no depression 20 have mild mood depression 8 person have borderline clinical depression 8 persons have moderate depression 3 persons suffering from severe depression and 1 person suffering from extreme depression. Conclusion: The study concluded that there is an impact of depression among the college going students due to COVID 19 pandemic.
