Abstract
The present study was conducted to determine the prevalence of cryptosporidiosis by using Kinyoun's acid-fast and Nested PCR methods in 0-01 month aged calves in Iğdır Province, Turkey. A total of 100 calves were used in this study. The calves belonging to the Iğdır Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, were diagnosed to have diarrhea on the basis of their clinical and anamnesis. In the microscopic examinations of 100 samples, 34 (34%) Cryptosporidium spp. were detected in Kinyoun's acid-fast whereas in the Nested PCR method it was found 38 (38%). Accordingly, attention was drawn to the necessity of complying with protective measures due to its zoonotic importance.
