Abstract

The chemical speciation of binary complexes of Pb(II), Cd(II), and Hg(II) ions with L-Histidine has been investigated pH metrically in the concentration range of 0-60 % v/v 1-Propanol-water mixtures at 303 K. Alkalimetric titrations were performed with various metal and Histidine concentrations. MINIQUAD75 was used to optimize the stability constants of different binary complex models. Based on statistical parameters, the best-fit chemical models were chosen. The species detected are ML, MLH, ML2 and ML2H for Pb(II); ML, MLH and ML2H for Cd(II); ML2 and ML2H for Hg(II).The distribution diagrams are used to explain chemical speciation, metal bioavailability, and transportation.
