Abstract

Musicality is a fundamental feature of poetry. Rhythm has been an inherent part of the poetry, but the recent syncretic approach to the poetry and music by the slam poets has turned it into a focal point of this newly assembled global performance. The paper analyzes the “musical poetry” and “rhythmic-performative arrangements” of Rati Amaghlobeli (1977–) Georgian poet, Marc Alexandre Oho Bambe (1976-) French slam poet and essayist. While music, movement and spoken words are blended in their performative poetry, it seems relevant to compare their phonetic, stylistic and performative features with which they achieve the syn- cretic creativity. As far as the new and audience-oriented format of the performative poetry has been popular, we have also concentrated on the comparability of their poetry. We supposed it relevant to study each ind i- vidually, and to find variance and invariance, similitude, analogues and polarity behind the global cultural emotions they convey. The findings reveal how this new concept of lyrical expression is related to ethnomu- sicology in each case
