Abstract
This study aims to measure the Turkey's society's preferences regarding the redistribution and to analyze how those preferences differ with respect to socio-demographic characteristics. Using factor analysis with International Social Survey Program the Role of Government Module data, it is shown that public preferences for economic policies relevant for redistribution of resources are two dimensional: Preferences for the role of government to ensure the inclusive institutions and social welfare and Preferences for the role of government to redistribute resources. For both dimensions, in line with the predictions of the median voter theory, it is shown that as income decreases, expectations from the government increase.
